Rachel has significant litigation experience. She spent over nine years advising insurers and self-insured organisations on the defence of complex employers’ and public liability claims, with a strong track record of securing successful trial outcomes and claim discontinuances. Since transitioning into clinical negligence in 2023, Rachel advises on a broad range of high-value and complex claims on behalf of private practitioners, healthcare organisations and pre-hospital providers. She has particular experience in surgical, orthopaedic and birth injury claims, as well as group actions and ADR. Rachel regularly acts for medical defence organisations and has successfully defended claims involving delayed diagnosis of cancers, complex neurological conditions, and fatal outcomes, as well as securing strike outs in technically challenging cases, including those involving litigants in person and procedural non-compliance. In addition to her disputes practice, Rachel supports clients on risk assurance and incident learning to help mitigate future claims.
Rachel is also a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers' Clinical Negligence Sector Focus Team.
