Insurers win landmark judgment against crash for cash fraud ring - Published 9th Nov 2009

Keoghs is delighted to announce the outcome of a unique civil case run by our Fraud Rings team on behalf of and in close co-operation with a number of our insurer clients. The team, led by partner Ruth Needham, has obtained a landmark judgment in the largest ever multi-party tort of deceit action to be brought in a case of suspected insurance fraud.

Keoghs represented a consortium of seven  motor insurers who have successfully won damages from 57 members of a ‘crash for cash' fraud ring. The perpetrators staged accidents involving 30 innocent victims in an attempt to cheat insurers out of several million pounds.
