Six out of ten use price comparison websites - Published 20th Nov 2009
Research from market analyst Mintel says six out of ten people use comparison websites to scan the market for the best insurance prices.
This has proved to be by far the major reason consumers have visited such websites, reports the Press Association.
Mintel's data shows that around 62 per cent of people have used a price comparison site, with just over half (52 per cent) of people looking for car insurance quotes on them, with 32 per cent looking for home insurance and 12 per cent searching for travel insurance.
Toby Clark, head of finance at Mintel, told the news provider: "The appeal of price comparison sites is clear - they give consumers the chance to save money and time, cutting out much of the tedious work involved in finding multiple quotes."
Consumers are having to scrutinize the market more thoroughly to find a good price as recent estimates by Sainsbury's Finance say that the cost of car insurance has risen by nearly 13 per cent.
