Costs Budgeting in Multi-Track Claims

Date: 20/12/2012

Client Alert Costs Budgeting Dec 2012New rules on costs budgeting will apply to all multi-track cases commencing on, or after, 1 April 2013. All parties must exchange "cost budgets"  within 28 days after service of the defence and in default of exchange they will be limited to recovering only the court fees incurred in the case from an unsuccessful party.

The court will then consider each budget at a Case Management Conference and, subject to representations, approve a budget or make a costs management order for revision of the budget.

Keoghs' Director of Costs, Howard Dean, explains what this will mean in practice.
