Biography
Ruth is experienced in dealing with many types of fraudulent claims, particularly staged and contrived accidents, bogus passengers and fraudulent household and motor theft claims. Her main focus now is on complex, cross-insurer fraud ring activities.
As the director of fraud rings, Ruth is responsible for co-ordinating the strategy for each fraud ring that Keoghs investigates. Within fraud rings Ruth was successful in obtaining judgment for over 300K, in the High Court, against 57 defendants with almost 100K exemplary damages for a cross insurer fraud ring.
Ruth dealt with the notable case of Steadman-Byrne v Amjad & others [2007] CoA, a successful appeal on behalf of a major insurer against the decision of a district judge on the grounds of judicial bias. Her latest accolades include being recommended by Chambers 2011 which states "Ruth Needham is highly regarded for her work in relation to suspected fraudulent claims" and winning the Personal Injury Team of the Year award in 2009.
