Double award success for Keoghs

Keoghs, the leading provider of claims-related legal services to the insurance sector, has won two categories at the 2011 Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards.

Keoghs’ disease team – which negotiates claims for work-related illnesses - was named Defendant Personal Injury Team of the Year and partner Neil Southern won the award for Outstanding Case of the Year.

The firm’s disease team has grown rapidly in recent years – expanding from five people in 2007 to its current headcount of 43 – to become one of the dominant forces in the market.

The team, led by David Wynn, challenge the conventional belief that disease claims must be handled in their entirety by senior experts, pioneering an approach combining technical expertise with process-driven support, allowing faster handling of claims at lower cost.

Neil Southern, a partner in Keoghs’ complex fraud team, achieved his award for the case of Loveday, in which a claimant who grossly exaggerated his personal injury claim was convicted for contempt of court after Facebook images showed him fit and well. The claimant was awarded a 9 month custodial sentence.

This is not the first time that Keoghs has enjoyed success at the Personal Injury Awards.  Partner Andrew Underwood was heralded as Defendant Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year at the inaugural awards in 2008, and the firm’s dedicated Fraud Rings unit was crowned Personal Injury Team of the Year in 2009.
