Department Counter-Fraud Services
Prior to joining Keoghs, Stratos was a solicitor in South Africa specialising in claimant and defendant insurance work. He joined Keoghs in 1998, moving into the fraud department in 1999, and has considerable experience of handling all types of fraudulent claim. Stratos led Keoghs’ Low Speed Impact (LSI) Claims Team for a period of 2½ years during which time it expanded from 2 to 10 members. He worked with a number of insurers to formulate a common approach to and process for dealing with this type of claim. He still takes an active interest in this area of law, and has researched, spoken and written extensively on the subject.
In addition to leading a team of fraud lawyers and case handlers, Stratos is the client relationship manager for a number of fraud clients. He is a member of Keoghs’ Technical Policy Group and leads the Fraud Technical Policy Group; these internal teams are responsible for identifying and responding to forthcoming developments and changes in the insurance and fraud marketplaces to make sure that Keoghs remains at the forefront of its field. Stratos co-authored “Fraudulent and Exaggerated Claims in Personal Injury”, a technical reference guide for lawyers and claims handlers, published by XPL Law in 2006. He is an experienced public speaker and has written and delivered numerous training courses over the last few years, both internally and to clients.
Stratos has completed the First Part of the Higher Rights of Audience qualification. He is fluent in Greek and has a working knowledge of Afrikaans.
