Keoghs doesn't just want to offer you a training contract. We aim to retain our trainees and want this to be the first step of a long and successful career with us.
What do we look for in our trainees?
We view our trainees as the partners of the future. Many of our current partners and associates started with us as trainee solicitors, so we have a proven track record. Of course we expect you will have an excellent education record, but we are also looking for well rounded individuals who can demonstrate more than just academic excellence - we want personality and character. We are on the lookout for individuals who are commercially aware, approachable and motivated team players who will work hard towards the success of our business.
What can you expect from the training contract?
We invest in our people to make sure they are trained and remunerated for the high standards of work we expect of them. We actively encourage our people to seize development opportunities and take responsibility for their own career progression, whilst giving maximum support to make sure it happens.
The role of our trainees is varied. Whether it is advocacy, drafting, research, reviewing or advising, we aim to provide the opportunities for you to develop the skills required for future practice. You will undertake a flexible programme in the firm’s main practice areas working with a mentor and supervisor who will ensure you get regular feedback and progress reports as well as formal appraisals throughout the training period. Our trainees are also encouraged to have their say in weekly meetings with the trainee mentor.
Will I have a social life?
It’s not all work, work, work! Each office has an active social and charity committee and Keoghs' trainees are encouraged to join their local trainee solicitors group.
The package
We offer a competitive salary (which is in excess of the Law Society minimum) as well as a great range of benefits which includes 25 days holiday, pension contributions, subsidised parking and a range of flexible benefits.
How do I apply?
The application period for training contracts runs from May to 31st July each year. To apply, please email recruitment@keoghs.co.uk to request an application form.
The application form covers your personal details, education, work history and some other questions which we feel bring out the skills we are looking for in our trainees. The application form is only available during the application period.
Successful applicants will be invited to take part in at least two interview stages which are held in August and September each year, and there will be the opportunity to meet some of our partners and other trainees.
