Complex Fraud

While the majority of suspicious claims are broadly similar in their size and technical complexity, there are a significant minority of high value and technically complex fraud claims that insurers have to deal with. Such claims present a substantial opportunity to make savings and even to set legal precedents but only if handled appropriately.

In order to assist insurers in dealing with claims of this nature, Keoghs has set up a specialist complex fraud unit comprising 10 of the UK’s leading fraud lawyers with a combined experience of over 80 years in handling high-value, technically challenging fraud claims and seeking civil sanctions against fraudsters.

When is a fraud a complex fraud?
There are a number of different types of fraud matters we view as being complex fraud, including:

  • Claims involving 10 or more claimants (including bus and coach claims)
  • Claims with cumulative damages of £100,000 or more
  • Suspicious hire claims exceeding £50,000
  • Recoveries of damages from fraudsters
  • Threats of winding up of insurers
  • Cases involving challenging European Directives Regulations

We can also undertake ad-hoc strategic litigation on behalf of one / a consortium of clients in order to seek legal precedents which can be used to reduce costs / lifecycle times, obtain recoveries and even lead to criminal prosecutions.
