Bad Useless Sick and Unwanted - 06/03/2008
Afternoon Seminar Programme
A seminar from Keoghs' Employment Team, with guest speaker, employment law expert, John Crosfill - a Barrister at Field Court Chambers, Grays Inn, London.
Dismissal is a serious matter that needs careful handling. It is a bleak prospect for the unwary employer. According to Acas*, among the most common reasons for dismissal are misconduct, inability to do the job and redundancy.
Employers have had to battle with a raft of new legislation over the past few years which has proved costly to businesses, and there are more changes on the way this year. Complaints to Employment Tribunals have risen sharply over recent years. So too has the maximum possible award which a Tribunal can make in a "normal" unfair dismissal case - this currently stands at £72,900.
Do you know the key concepts behind wrongful, unfair and constructive dismissal? Do you know the qualifying conditions for bringing an unfair dismissal claim, the permissible reasons and how fairness is judged? Attend our next seminar and we'll tell you all this and more.
